The interior design concept is a tribute to the brewing process, with raw elements such as concrete and brick cladding the interior walls. The color scheme, featuring Giesinger's signature green, yellow, and dark blue, complements the rustic finishes. The design is reminiscent of the Heillig Geist Kirche in Giesing, a nod to the local culture and history.
What sets this design apart is the extravagant pipe artwork that guides guests from the entrance to the main hall. The rough-cut, solid wood tables and beer banks are arranged to create a warm, relaxed atmosphere. Panoramic windows enable the users to connect to the brewery, while a custom-made shipping container acts as a lounge, providing privacy from the main hall.
The design's realization technology is another highlight. The network of copper pipes, which abstractly resembles the brewing process, starts from the walls of the double-height lobby and flows into the restroom walls, culminating as a grid on the main hall ceiling. Recycled Giesinger beer bottles are used in the lobby outside of the main hall and inserted with lights to illuminate the G shape. Recycled bricks are cladded on the bar display wall and were locally sourced to reduce the project's carbon footprint.
The main hall is 180 square meters with a ceiling height of 4.5M. The bar now represents the brand, hosting guided tours and events. It includes an office space and a beer hall. A green elevator connects the hall to the storage area and entertains the guests with old beer moving theatrics. The multi-functional pub seats 160 people and can also host corporate events and private parties.
The design work started in December 2019, and the construction was completed in September 2020 in Munich, Germany. The design team, led by Gül Koc-Janssen, included Shehroze Yusuf Khan and Vasudha Jindal. The research goal was to create an industrial-style bar with a panoramic window that enables the user to visually connect to the tall, double-height brewing tanks that are inscribed with graffiti artwork; to provide a unique ambiance in which to appreciate Giesinger beer and accommodate three different scenarios as per the design brief.
The design project faced the challenge of balancing the industrial style and open space by creating a sense of coziness. The event space is intended to provide an appropriate, spacious and modern setting for sponsor meetings, the presentation of new beer varieties, but also impressive events. The interior design brings into the space precisely those materials that are directly related to the brewing process and cleverly combines them with the colors of the Giesinger Brau brand. In pleasant combination with various woods and black-painted steel, they are brought into the detailed execution of the design. Different variants of tables and benches provide the necessary flexibility and versatility.
